Make your own version of an open-source app, without writing code
Pick an open-source app, describe what you'd change, and try it in a live preview. DuckPond keeps your version in your own GitHub account, ready to put online with a hosting service like Railway.
How it will work
- 1
Pick an app
Search open-source projects on GitHub, or start from a popular one like Excalidraw.
- 2
Describe your changes
Say what you'd change in your own words. An AI makes it, and you click around a live preview until it's right.
- 3
Put it online
Your version lives in your own GitHub account. Deploy it with Railway or a similar host, on your account, and share the link.
What you could make
Make it yours
Your name, logo and colors on a tool your team already likes.
Add what's missing
The button, field or page the original doesn't have.
Keep only what you need
Hide the parts you never use, and make the rest simpler.
Questions
- Do I need to know how to code?
- No. You describe the changes in plain words and judge them in a live preview. You never read or edit the code.
- Where will my version run?
- On a hosting service you choose, such as Railway, under your own account. You own the copy and the hosting.
- Am I allowed to change an open-source app and run my own copy?
- Open-source licenses let you run and change your own copy. Some also ask you to keep the license notice or to share your changes, so check the project's license: DuckPond shows it on every project page.
- When can I start?
- We're building it now. Until it opens, you can already suggest changes to open-source projects: DuckPond sends them to the maintainers as pull requests.
Have an idea for the project itself?
Send it to the maintainers as a pull request. That works today.
